ChatGPT detector that also checks Claude, Gemini and DeepSeek

IsThisAiWritten is a free ChatGPT detector that also checks text from Claude, Gemini, DeepSeek and any other chatbot. Paste your text below and press Check for AI: there is no account and no word limit, and the check runs in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.

Why use this ChatGPT detector

  • Free, with no sign-up. No account, no email and no credit card. No credits, no daily cap, no paywall and no premium tier.
  • No word or character limit. Paste a single paragraph or a whole thesis or novel and check it in one go.
  • Nothing is uploaded. The check runs in your browser, so the text never leaves your device.
  • Your text is never stored, shared, sold or used to train anything. We never receive it.
  • Every word is scanned, never a sample.
  • A report that explains itself: an AI-likeness score, sentence-by-sentence highlights, style notes with one-click plainer wording, a hidden-character and look-alike-letter cleaner, and a narrative fingerprint for fiction.
  • Opens .txt and .docx files right in the browser.
  • No ads where you paste text.

One check for ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and the rest

The detector reads how a text is written, not which app produced it. Text from ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, DeepSeek, Grok or any other model goes through the same check and gets the same report, so you never have to guess which chatbot someone used before you start.

That suits the way suspect text usually arrives. A forwarded email, a cover letter, a product review, a freelance draft or a student essay rarely comes with a note saying where the words came from. Paste it in and you get one clear outcome (Human, Mixed, AI or Inconclusive) with a confidence word, plus a map of the passages that read most like AI.

New ChatGPT releases

New models arrive often. The home page shows the newest release in each family automatically: today that includes GPT-6.1 Sol, Claude Sonnet 5.5, Gemini 4 Argon, DeepSeek V4.1 Flash, Kimi K3 and Grok 4.7. Our post on whether detectors can catch the newest models looks at what a new version changes for any detector.

What the report shows on chatbot text

  • AI-likeness. One line that places the text against the human writing we tested, in the form “more AI-like than X% of human writing we tested”.
  • Sentence-by-sentence highlights. Each sentence is shaded relative to the rest of the text, so you can go straight to the passages that score highest and read them in context.
  • Style notes. Chatbots lean on certain words and stock phrases. The report marks phrases such as “plays a crucial role” and “it's important to note”, words such as “delve” and “leverage”, and em dashes. Each note explains itself, and where a plainer wording is safe (“matters”, “dig”, “use”, a comma) you can apply it with one click. Style notes are context and never feed the verdict.
  • Hidden characters. Text copied out of a chat window, a PDF or a web page can carry zero-width spaces and look-alike letters. They are set aside before scoring, listed for you and removed in a clean copy.

How to check text for ChatGPT

  1. Paste the text into the box above, at any length, or open a .txt or .docx file.
  2. Press Check for AI. Every word is scanned on your own device.
  3. Read the outcome (Human, Mixed, AI or Inconclusive) with its confidence word, then the AI-likeness line.
  4. Open the sentence map and read the highest-scoring passages in context.
  5. Go through the style notes. Apply the plainer wording you agree with, edit the text in place if you like, and press Re-scan to check the new version.
  6. Keep the result if you need it later: download it as JSON, print it or save it as a PDF, or copy a short summary.

Getting the most from a ChatGPT check

A detector result is most useful next to what you already know about a text. Drafts and version history show how a piece came together, and a short conversation shows whether the writer can explain and extend what they wrote. The sentence map gives that conversation a starting point: specific passages rather than a vague suspicion.

Surface habits on their own settle nothing. Plenty of people used em dashes long before chatbots did; see why em dashes don't prove AI. For a step-by-step guide to school work, read how to check if an essay was written by ChatGPT. The methodology page explains how the detector is tested.

Questions

Is this detector made by OpenAI, Anthropic, Google or DeepSeek?

No. IsThisAiWritten is independent and has no affiliation with any of them.

Can it find a ChatGPT paragraph pasted into my own writing?

That is what the Mixed outcome is for. It appears when at least one substantial passage, around 120 words or more, scores as AI while the rest of the text doesn't, and the sentence map shows you where that passage sits.
